The car was built by Pullman for the Copper River & Northwestern Railway and named the founder of Kennecott Coper Company.
C B & Q railroad Aleutian heavyweight office car. That railroad’s vice president and general manager of the eastern lines used the car in 1940. These were called “office cars,” railroad officials used cars to entertain customers and guests of the company, shippers, bankers, or politicians.
In 1952, Burlington rebuilt and modernized the car, installing air conditioning, self-contained electrical and hot water systems, and roller bearings, giving it a rebuilt weight of over 102 tons.
Car sold to Missouri Portland Cement Company of St Louis MO in 1966. Used for business trips and business receptions
Car donated to the museum in 1970 and renamed - Barrett Station
The car was then later painted and relettered for the Burlington as the Aleutian
HBO’s film “Truman,” shot in spring 1995, featured the Aleutian car as a stand-in for the Ferdinand Magellan car and pulled by Frisco 1522 steam engine.
